Saylo is a language practice app that helps people create profiles, discover compatible language partners, chat, schedule practice sessions, and join voice practice experiences. This Privacy Policy applies to Saylo's mobile app and related support pages.
2. Information we collect
We collect information needed to provide Saylo's core features:
- Account information, such as email address, user ID, and authentication details.
- Profile information, such as display name, username, bio, profile photo, languages, interests, optional city, country, timezone, and optional age or age range if enabled.
- Social and conversation content, such as connection requests, chat messages, session details, reports, and blocking/safety actions.
- Voice-session technical data needed to connect live audio sessions. Saylo uses microphone access only when you join or start a voice practice experience.
- Device and app information, such as device push tokens if notifications are enabled, app diagnostics if enabled, and basic server logs needed for security and reliability.
3. Information we do not collect
Saylo does not currently request precise GPS location, contacts, financial information, health data, or camera access. Saylo does not sell personal information.
4. How we use information
- To create and manage your account.
- To help you build a language profile.
- To recommend compatible practice partners.
- To send, receive, and store chat messages.
- To schedule and manage practice sessions.
- To enable live voice practice sessions and circles.
- To provide notifications if you enable them.
- To prevent abuse, investigate reports, and keep Saylo safer.
- To maintain, debug, and improve app reliability.
5. Profile visibility and user content
Some profile information is visible to other Saylo users, including your display name, username, profile photo, languages, interests, bio, and optional city/country if you add them. Messages and voice interactions are shared with the users participating in those conversations or sessions.
6. Permissions
- Microphone: used only for voice practice sessions and voice circles.
- Photo library: used only when you choose a profile photo.
- Notifications: used only if push notifications are enabled and you allow them.
7. Service providers
Saylo may use service providers to operate the app, including authentication/database hosting, media storage, push notifications, email delivery, and voice-session transport. These providers process data only as needed to provide Saylo's services.
8. Data retention
We keep account, profile, message, session, and safety records for as long as needed to provide Saylo, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, enforce our terms, and protect users. When you request account deletion, we delete or de-identify personal data unless retention is required for security, fraud prevention, legal compliance, or safety records.
9. Account deletion
You can request deletion of your Saylo account and associated data from the Account Deletion page. We may ask you to verify account ownership before processing the request.
10. Children
Saylo is not intended for children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information to Saylo, contact us so we can review and take appropriate action.
11. Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational safeguards, including HTTPS in production and secure token storage in the app. No system is perfectly secure, so users should protect their login credentials and report suspicious activity.
12. International users
Saylo may process information in countries where our service providers operate. By using Saylo, you understand that information may be processed outside your country of residence.
